Discover London's cultural heritage

Who has never heard of Westminster Palace and the renowned Big Ben? The clock tower, the city's emblematic landmark, is undoubtedly one of the most evocative symbols of London's culture! Built in 1858, the tower is part of the Westminster Palace, which is also the House of Parliament. However, only the British can visit the tower from the inside.

Another emblematic place is Tower Bridge, which is renowned for its appearance in a multitude of films. The best time to go and see it is at dusk, from the edges of the River Thames!

You can also visit Buckingham Palace, the world-famous royal palace, to witness the Changing of the Guard, a real highlight. Then take a stroll through Hyde Park, the largest park in the city but also one of the most beautiful parks in the world.

And for art lovers: The National Gallery displays more than 2,300 paintings dating from the 13th to the 20th century!

To take a look at London from a different perspective, jump on the London Eye, Europe's largest wheel with a capacity of 25 people per capsule.

Discovering the life of London

To experience the heart of London, it is best to stroll through the different parts of the city and immerse yourself in their different and peculiar atmospheres. Start with a long walk along the Thames, where you will see many monuments and enjoy the riverbanks. Continue your trip to the Notting Hill area, which has become famous with the film of the same name. It is a charming, peaceful area that is more like a small village. Another essential district of the city of London is Camden Town and its famous market. Camden is an atypical district combining punks and goths. Its daily market is a one-of-a-kind flea market with unique stalls, where you can find many little treasures for yourself.

A meeting with the authentic London

It is basically impossible to go to England without visiting one of the famous English pubs at least once. Inside, you will discover a typical decoration and a warm atmosphere that is characteristic of the Anglo-Saxons. This is a great opportunity to try to chat in English and enjoy traditional dishes such as fish and chips with a beer (to be enjoyed in moderation). Among the most genuine are the Sherlock Holmes, the Churchill Arms and the Lamb & Flag. For shopping lovers: take a detour to Oxford Street, where all the major English brands are located.

Things to know before going to London

In London, as in all major touristic cities, beware of the tourist catchers and pick-pockets who adore waiting in the most crowded places.

At the airport, choose the Heathrow express train over expensive taxis. When booking tickets for shows, buy them in advance as they are often sold out, especially musicals. Finally, don't forget that in London people pay in pounds!
